This piece represents the struggle between Purity of Art Vs. the Business of Art. Two different sides, feeling like they're constantly ripping me apart.
-Business of Art: The financial side of things. Money. Galleries. Representation. Etc. (The smooth talking, smiling salesman. He's Blind. Nothing but money on his mind. He wears his best suit and flaunts his Rolex. Appearances are everything. In his hand, a gun. Though violent, it represents the constant pressure of money & bills, often times feeling like a literal gun to your head.)
-Purity of Art: The love of creation. Art for arts sake, Graffiti, Street Art. My Purpose. (The paint covered rebel stands defiant. He sees all, but he cannot speak. The respirator protects his lungs but blocks his connection. Even if he could talk, who would really listen? In his hands, a live grenade. The pin dangles from the pocket of his enemy. If the pressure of business ever gets too much, he knows it's really HIM that controls their fate!)
